London, England – Patrick Mills recorded a game-high 39 points and Australia battered Great Britain, 106-75, in Group B action on Saturday.
David Andersen totaled 13 points, while Joe Ingles and Aron Baynes had 11 and 10, respectively, for the Aussies, who erased a 10-point halftime deficit with 70 second-half points.
Joel Freeland poured in 16 points with seven rebounds and Dan Clark added 14 points for the hosts, who fell to 0-4 in group play.
The Brits were ahead 51-36 early in the third quarter, but Australia turned the momentum around with a 30-6 run.
Matt Dellavedova connected on a pair of triples, Mills also hit from long distance and his three-point play with 6:01 to go forged a 53-53 deadlock. Nate Reinking's bucket put the Brits ahead, but Dellavedova's trey pushed Australia ahead by one -- a lead it never relinquished.
Mills hit two from the line and Brad Newley sank four straight to cap the run at 66-57 with 1:21 left in the third.
Australia ran away with it in the fourth, racking up a 40-15 advantage in points.
