Atletico Mineiro closed the gap on first-place Fluminense on Sunday with a 3-2 win at the Raimundo Sampaio Stadium.

Wellington had given Fluminense the lead in the 55th minute before a brace from Jo put the home side in front.

Fred was able to get Fluminense on level terms five minutes from time, but Leonardo Silva struck in stoppage time to see Mineiro claim all three points.

Atletico Mineiro is unbeaten in its last three games and improves to 63 points, cutting its deficit behind Fluminense to six points.

Also on Sunday, Flamengo claimed a 1-0 win over Sao Paulo thanks to a second- half goal from Marcos Gonzalez, Ponte Preta edged Santos 1-0 behind Luan's early goal, Goianiense was left to rue a missed penalty kick from Patrick as Sport Recife grabbed a 1-0 road win, and Nautico played to a 0-0 draw with Portuguesa.

On Saturday, Palmeiras earned a 2-0 win over Cruzeiro, Corinthians played to a 1-1 draw with Bahia, and Gremio was held to a 0-0 draw by Coritiba.
