The Houston Astros have recalled pitcher Fernando Abad from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Abad was set to make his first major league start on Saturday against the New York Mets. He has appeared in 81 big league games out of the bullpen, including 30 this season.

The right-hander had no record and a 3.86 ERA for the Astros this year before being sent to the minors. He made three starts at Oklahoma City prior to Saturday's recall.

Houston optioned pitcher Chuckie Fick to Oklahoma City to open up a roster spot for Abad.

Fick has an 0-1 record with a 4.91 ERA in 11 relief appearances for the St. Louis Cardinals and Astros this season.
