The Oakland Athletics acquired pitcher Jesse Chavez from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for cash considerations on Friday.

Chavez went 1-1 with an 8.44 earned run average in nine games (two starts) with Toronto this season. He was also 8-5 with a 3.98 ERA in 19 games (17 starts) with Triple-A Las Vegas.

The 29-year-old is 7-11 with a 5.74 ERA in 152 career appearances (two starts) with the Pittsburgh Pirates (2008-09), Atlanta Braves (2010), Kansas City Royals (2010-11) and Toronto (2012).
