DETROIT – Newly released investigative reports provide a detailed look at the final days of Cullen Finnerty, a former record-setting quarterback who died two months ago while on a holiday weekend trip in rural Michigan.
The reports show Cullen Finnerty had a number of alcoholic drinks on the day he disappeared and told relatives in two final frantic phone calls that he believed he was being followed.
The police reports were released to The Associated Press through the Freedom of Information Act.
In them, Finnerty's wife, Jennifer, tells detectives it wasn't the first time her husband had a "paranoid" episode.
She says 18 months earlier the three-time national championship QB at Grand Valley State drove 150 miles to Grand Rapids from Detroit because he feared the FBI was following him.
