Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim activated pitcher Garrett Richards from the 15-day disabled list to start in Sunday's rubber match against the Houston Astros.

Richards will make his season debut after recovering from a ruptured patellar tendon in his left knee. He suffered the injury during late August while covering first base on a groundball in Boston.

The 26-year-old right-hander was 13-4 with a 2.61 earned run average in 26 starts last season. He owns a career record of 24-17 with a 3.66 ERA in 110 games, including 55 starts, since making his major league debut in 2011.

To create room for Richards, the Angels optioned pitcher Adam Wilk to Triple-A Salt Lake.
