Adam Scott among 4 players at so-called 5th major who can get to No. 1 TPC Sawgrass

As much time as Adam Scott spends away from the PGA Tour, this might have a good week to take off. By the mathematical wonder of the world ranking, he could have stayed in The Bahamas and still moved to No. 1.

Scott would love to get to No. 1 for the first time, though he's more interested in winning big tournaments.

The Players Championship is one of the biggest, with perhaps the strongest field of the year and the richest purse at $10 million. The TPC Sawgrass doesn't favor a particular player or style of game. What adds to the interest is that Scott is among four players who can replace Tiger Woods at No. 1.

The others are Henrik Stenson, Masters champion Bubba Watson and Matt Kuchar.
