San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith was reportedly arrested Friday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to CSNBayArea.com, which cites San Jose Police, Smith was determined to be the driver in a single-vehicle accident in San Jose's Silver Creek district.

Smith was booked into Santa Clara County jail on charges of DUI and possession of marijuana, according to the Santa Clara Sheriff Dept. He was held on $5,250 bail, according to jail records.

The 49ers issued a statement:

"The 49ers organization is aware of the matter involving Aldon Smith. As we continue to gather information regarding this situation, we will have no further comment."

Smith has had several off-the-field issues since the 49ers made him in the No. 7 overall pick in the 2011 draft. He was arrested on a DUI charge in January 2012 in Miami.

Most recently, Smith was named in two lawsuits stemming from a house party he hosted in June 2012. He reportedly was stabbed at the party.

Smith has 12 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks in two games this season. The Missouri product recorded 19 1/2 sacks in 2012.
