The Supreme Court upheld most of President Obama's Health Care law, including the controversial individual mandate that nearly all Americans obtain health insurance or be subject to a fine.

The court said that fine ultimately amounts to a tax, and therefore the government does have the power to impose it.

This however is at odds with President Obama's comments about the law possibly imposing a new tax. "For us to say that you've got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase," said Obama during an interview with ABC in September, 2009.

When asked if he rejected the notion that his law amounted to a tax increase President Obama replied, "I absolutely reject that notion."
