One incident of obvious cooperation between the Pakistani intelligence community and the Taliban has already been uncovered and greater attention is being paid to such links, Gen. David Petraeus said in an interview with FOX News on Monday.

The head of Central Command said the U.S. military is putting "additional focus" on rooting out ties between Pakistan's intelligence service and the Taliban as the Obama administration prepares to step up the fight against extremists along the country's border with Afghanistan.

"There is a case in the past year or so that we think was unambiguous. There appears to have been a warning prior to a Pakistani operation," Petraeus told FOX News' Bret Baier.

"There are some relationships that continue. It is not as clear as one would like. There's certainly additional focus on that," Petraeus said. "Obviously, we've had these conversations with our counterparts (in Pakistan)."

Petraeus spoke with FOX News days after President Obama unveiled a new, regional strategy for fighting Al Qaeda and its allies in Afghanistan and Pakistan, which Petraeus is leading. Obama announced that he's sending 21,000 more troops to Afghanistan and is requesting billions more in aid to help Pakistan.
