Conyers Son Uses Congressional Vehicle, Files Police Report

Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) says it was "inappropriate" for his son to use his government-issued Congressional vehicle over Thanksgiving.

"I am sorry it happened and will make sure that it does not happen again," Conyers said in a statement. "I will review the full circumstances of the use of this vehicle and make restitution to the Treasury for any non-official use."

The Congressman's son, John Conyers III, filed a police report Thanksgiving morning that vandals broke into the 2010 Cadillac Escalade in Detroit. The younger Conyers claimed that two laptops were stolen along with $27,000 worth of concert tickets for a December 26 show by rapper Big Sean.

Conyers III works with the promotional organization selling the tickets.

The vehicle is registered to Conyers' Congressional office in Detroit.

The elder Conyers is 81 and was elected in 1964. He's the second-most senior member of the House and the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee.

The Congressman's wife, Monica, is a former member of the Detroit City Council. She's serving more than three years in prison for accepting bribes.
