At least 572 San Francisco city workers and executives made more than the governor of California last year. And that’s not including overtime, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

“That’s pretty staggering,” Tom Dalzell, head of the California Citizens Compensation Commission, which sets the pay for state lawmakers, told the newspaper.

Gov. Jerry Brown’s annual $173,987 salary is on par with what senior police sergeants in San Francisco make.

More than 1,500 city workers make more than state Attorney General Kamala Harris, who gets paid $151,127 a year.

According to city records, 195 San Francisco workers and executives made more than $200,000 last year. The highest paid was Police Chief Greg Suhr, who made $321,522. Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White came in second at $314,759.
