Pete Davidson recently bid farewell to his Ariana Grande-inspired neck tattoo, replacing it with a word some fans are calling "savage."
Fans of the 25-year-old "SNL" star spotted the cover-up when tattoo artist Jon Mesa posted a photo of Davidson's latest ink: the famous Tootsie Roll Pop owl.
In September 2018, Davidson got the French phrase “mille tendresse" which translates to “a thousand tendernesses" — a line from the 1961 Audrey Hepburn hit "Breakfast at Tiffany's — inked on the back of his neck. Fans noted it was the same expression his then-fiancée Grande had permanently placed on the back of her neck in cursive four years prior.

In the image posted by Mesa on Saturday, Instagram users were quick to point out the previously identical Grande tattoo was crossed out in red ink and replaced with the bold word "cursed," written in capital letters.
The artwork got mixed reactions online, with some saying it was "savage" and simply "ouch" and others calling it "awesome" and assuring the comedian that it "looked bomb."
"Pete always with the most unique selection for tats. I still remember Doodle Bob. Lol," one Instagram user commented.
"So happy seeing Pete Davidson is back to being happy and doing his thing. Love his humor on Saturday Night Live. He has a fan here! This tattoo is great! Awesome job!" another exclaimed, likely referring to the Tootsie Pop owl.

Davidson and Grande called it quits in October — less than five months after their relationship began.
Since then, Grande has shown no interest in starting anything new. In January, she replied to an article inquiring who she's dating now.
"Spoiler for the rest of this year / probably my life: it’s no one. please refer back to this tweet for future questions," Grande quipped.
Meanwhile, Davidson has apparently been getting cozy with 45-year-old Kate Beckinsale. Rumors swirled after the two were spotted together after the 2019 Golden Globe Awards. When asked about her ex-fiancé's potential new May-December romance last week, Grande reportedly said it was "so cute!"
The pair has both slowly worked on covering up tattoos they got in honor of each other while they were still an item. According to Cosmopolitan, Davidson and Grande got at least 12 couple tattoos over the course of their short-lived relationship.
Grande, 25, was recently mocked for getting Japanese Kanji character symbols that spelled out "shichirin" — which translate to a Japanese style barbecue grill — inked on her hand to celebrate her latest single "7 Rings." She later admitted to the mistake and said it had been edited.
"Slightly better. Thanks to my tutor for helping me fix and to @kanenavasard for being a legend. And to my doctor for the lidocaine shots (no joke). Rip tiny charcoal grill. Miss you man. I actually really liked u," the singer shared an updated photo of the tattoo in an Instagram Story.
