Rwanda's foreign minister says her government has no sympathy for a slain former spy chief who had a falling out with Rwanda's president and was killed in South Africa.

Louise Mushikiwabo said in Twitter messages that Patrick Karegeya was a "self-declared" enemy of Rwanda. She asked her Twitter followers of Karegeya's death: "You expect pity?"

The tweets were the closest to any official comment received so far from the Rwandan government on the death of Karegeya, the former Rwandan spy chief whose body was discovered Wednesday in an upscale Johannesburg hotel. Police suspect he might have been strangled.

Members of the Rwandan opposition and family and friends of Karegeya have accused Rwandan President Paul Kagame of being behind the killing. The Rwandan government denies it targets dissidents for assassination.
