Pakistan's top military and civilian body has indicated that the country will soon reopen NATO and U.S. supply lines to Afghanistan but stopped short of calling for an immediate end to the war blockade.

The Cabinet's defense committee urged Pakistani negotiators Tuesday to "conclude" their talks with U.S. and NATO about the new terms and conditions for the resumption of the routes.

It also said President Asif Ali Zardari should attend an upcoming NATO summit in Chicago on the future of Afghanistan.
