The Israeli military says the goalkeeper of the Palestinian Olympic football team is among 13 people arrested for alleged involvement in a shooting against Israeli soldiers.

No Israelis were wounded in the January attack in the Amari refugee camp in the West Bank. But Israel says rifles used in the shooting were provided by the head of security for the local branch of the Red Crescent medical service.

On Monday, Israel said one of those arrested is Omar Abu Rois, a goalkeeper for the Palestinian team, which failed to qualify for the Olympics.

Israel says Abu Rois works at the Red Crescent and is affiliated with the Hamas militant group. The Red Crescent security chief was also arrested.

Jihad Tomalah, director of the Amari sports club, confirmed Abu Rois' detention.
