Home Depot is synonymous with Mexicans. That is, according to Google image search.

The website the Daily Dot discovered that when you look for pictures of the home improvement store on the search engine giant, the third subcategory that comes up is “Mexican.”

The photos, seen following the categories “Slogan” and “Employee,” depict Latinos who may or not be Mexican. And, aside from some of images of day laborers near a Home Depot parking lot, the photos have nothing to do with the store.

As Daily Dot points out, Google’s apparent search error is “more indicative of harsh socioeconomic realities and the human propensity for stereotypes than some malicious joke.”

Apparently, Mexicans are not the only demographic group being stereotypically targeted on Google.

If you search for an image of “black people,” a subcategory comes up for “chicken,” while a search for “white people” returns images of snuggies.
