Moo Moo is one lucky cat.

A New Zealand feline has survived after undergoing an operation to remove an arrow that was shot through its skull.

The cat’s owner, Donna Ferrari, of Wainuiomata, says she spotted Moo Moo wandering in her backyard on Monday with a red arrow sticking through both sides of his head, The Dominion Post reports.

"At first I thought it was a kids' toy, but when he turned I saw it went all the way through," Ferrari said.

Moo Moo was operated on Tuesday at the Massey University Veterinary Teaching Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

"There was a little bit of injury to his nose and eye socket, but he's an extraordinarily lucky cat. The velocity of the bolt hitting him would have been quite frightening, so he's very brave, “ veterinary surgeon Dr. Jonathan Bray told The Dominion Post.

Wainuiomata police are carrying out an investigation over the incident.
