Chicago, IL – Chicago White Sox starter John Danks, who has yet to pitch this season, will return to the mound for the start Friday in his team's three-game interleague series opener versus the Miami Marlins.
The club's announcement comes nearly one year after Danks went on the 15-day disabled list on May 25, 2012. His season ended with arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder.
Danks made four rehab starts, including three for Triple-A Charlotte this season, in which he had a 3.18 earned run average with 15 strikeouts over 22 2/3 innings.
The 28-year-old lefty has a career 4.12 ERA with a record of 57-60 in 159 starts over six seasons, all with the White Sox.
Chicago opened a roster spot Thursday by optioning pitcher Donnie Veal to Charlotte.
