West Brom suffers Gera injury blow
West Bromwich, England – West Bromwich midfielder Zoltan Gera has sustained a serious knee injury which will keep him out of the lineup for an extended spell.
The 32-year-old Gera was making just his third appearance in league play this season for the Baggies on Saturday but lasted only 21 minutes of the 3-1 defeat to Tottenham. And now he will undergo further tests on the knee with manager Roy Hodgson fearing the worst.
"Zoltan has done really well since coming into the team three games ago and his performances quickly justified how highly we rate him," Hodgson told the club's official website.
"We still don't know for sure how long he will be out for but we know we won't be able to call on his services for the foreseeable future. This will be a major blow both on the training pitch and the match arena."
The Hungary international joined West Brom in 2004 and went on to make over 150 appearances for the club before moving to Fulham.
Gera returned to the Hawthorns over the summer on a two-year contract.
