Stan Okoye scored 27 points and Virginia Military Institute routed Gardner-Webb 97-76 on Sunday.

VMI ended the first half on a 15-0 run to turn a 39-36 lead with 3:54 remaining into a 54-36 advantage at the break. The Keydets used a 20-10 run to open the second half to grab their biggest lead of the game at 74-46 with 12:44 to play. Gardner-Webb could get no closer than 21 points the rest of the way.

Austin Kenon added 18 points, Rodney Glasgow had 16 and Keith Gabriel 11 for the Keydets (9-5, 2-2 Big South Conference), who have won two in a row and three of their past four games.

The Keydets shot a season-best 58.7 percent (37 of 63) from the field. Also, VMI outscored Gardner-Webb in the paint 52-38.

Stefon Johnson had 17 points, Laron Buggs added 13 and David Brown had 12 for the Runnin' Bulldogs (6-10, 1-3), who have lost six consecutive games.
