Shenneika Smith scored 11 points, including the ahead three-pointer with eight seconds left, and St. John's toppled No. 2 56, Saturday to snap the Huskies 99-game home winning streak.

It was the first time UConn lost a home game since March 6, 2007, when it fell to Rutgers in the Big East championship game.

Da'Shena Stevens and Nadirah McKenith both netted 15 points for St. John's (18-8, 10-3 Big East), which has won its last five games, including two straight over ranked opponents.

Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis led the Huskies (24-3, 11-2) with 12 points, while Kiah Stokes and Bria Hartley chipped in 11 and 10, respectively. UConn had won 12 straight entering the contest.

After exchanging buckets late in the second half, UConn tied the game at 54 when Mosqueda-Lewis knocked down 1-of-2 from the line. The Huskies then forced a turnover and finished a layup on the other end to take a 56-54 lead with 34 seconds to play.

St John's went for the win down by two and Smith nailed her three-pointer from the right wing with just eight seconds remaining to give the Red Storm a 57-56 advantage.

Hartley's trey was off the mark for the Huskies as time expired and the Red Storm escaped Gampel Pavilion with the victory.

McKenith wrapped up an evenly played first half as she drilled a triple at the halftime buzzer to give the upset-minded Red Storm a 34-32 advantage heading into the locker room.
