Mychal Ammons had 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead South Alabama to its second conference win of the year in a 69-62 upset at Western Kentucky on Saturday night.

Augustine Rubit added 12 points, 13 rebounds and five blocked shots for South Alabama (8-17, 2-10 Sun Belt Conference) which held Western Kentucky (17-9, 9-4) to just 14 first-half points on 4-of-28 shooting.

Both teams went scoreless for a 5:40 stretch and WKU missed 16 straight shots.

The Jaguars extended to 51-32 in the second half and held off a late rally from the Hilltoppers who closed the deficit to six points in the final minute.

Aakim Saintil had 12 points and Antoine Allen had 10 for South Alabama.

George Fant had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead WKU which remains alone in second place in the Sun Belt. T.J. Price had 15 points and Brandon Harris 12.
