Scott resigns at Richmond

Richmond announced on Tuesday that head football coach Latrell Scott has resigned from his position and offensive coordinator Wayne Lineburg has been named the interim head coach.

"Although the timing and circumstances are unfortunate, I am confident that Coach Lineburg, his staff, and the football student-athletes will have a successful 2011 season," said athletic director Jim Miller.

Scott coached just one season with the Spiders after being named the head coach on December 15, 2009. He guided the team to a 6-5 mark with a 4-4 record in Colonial Athletic Association play.

Lineburg, 37, is entering his second year with the school after spending the previous three seasons on the offensive staff at Virginia.
