Ryan Newman is confident his "B team" will deliver this weekend at Kansas Speedway after NASCAR upheld penalties levied against his Richard Childress Racing team for manipulating his tires in March.

Newman arrived for Saturday night's Sprint Cup race without crew chief Luke Lambert, who must serve a six-race suspension along with paying a fine for what transpired in California.

Final Appeals Officer Bryan Moss ruled Wednesday that there was "a preponderance of evidence" that RCR intentionally altered Newman's tires to give him an advantage. His crew also lost an engineer and tire specialist for six races.

Newman said Friday he "doesn't believe at all" in the outcome of the appeal, but that interim crew chief Todd Parrott will still keep the team competitive.
