St. Petersburg, FL – The Boston Red Sox placed pitcher Clayton Mortensen on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday due to a right groin strain.
The 28-year-old reliever has appeared in 24 games this season and holds a 1-2 record with a 5.34 ERA.
To fill his roster sport, Boston recalled pitcher Jose De La Torre from Triple-A Pawtucket.
De La Torre pitched in two games for the Red Sox while posting a 9.00 ERA in his first call-up.
