Rays' Cobb to have surgery
St. Petersburg, FL – Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Alex Cobb will have surgery on Friday to remove a blockage in the area of his first right rib.
The surgery will be performed at the Baylor Medical Center in Dallas and the recovery time is expected to be 10-12 weeks.
On Sunday, Cobb was placed on the 15-day disabled list because of discomfort in his right hand.
Cobb left his start on Saturday against Oakland after just 4 1/3 innings because of the issue. Tests taken after the contest were negative.
He was 3-2 with a 3.42 earned run average in nine starts this season.
