Owings Mills, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - The Baltimore Ravens signed cornerback Jimmy Smith to a contract extension on Tuesday.

While terms were not disclosed, an NFL.com report indicated it is a four- year deal worth $48 million with $21 million guaranteed.

The 26-year-old Colorado product will be entering his fifth season with Baltimore after being selected No. 27 overall in the 2011 draft. In his first four seasons, he intercepted five passes and broke up 32 more in 47 games. His 2014 season was cut short due to a Lisfranc sprain.

Smith was entering the final season of his rookie contract and would have become an unrestricted free agent in 2016.
