Pittsburgh, PA – The Pittsburgh Pirates signed veteran year contract on Thursday.
The deal includes a club option for 2013.
Barajas hit .230 with 16 home runs and 47 RBI in 98 games for the Dodgers in 2011.
Since the beginning of the 2009 season, the 36-year-old right-handed hitter ranks third among all catchers with 50 home runs.
In 1,010 career games with Arizona (1999-2003), Texas (2004-2006), Philadelphia (2007), Toronto (2008-2009), the New York Mets (2010) and Los Angeles Dodgers (2010-2011), Barajas has hit .238 with 125 homers and 449 RBI.
