Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia Phillies placed third baseman Michael Young on the bereavement list on Wednesday prior to the team's contest with the Boston Red Sox.
Young is batting .258 on the season, his first with the Phillies, but has struggled over his last six games with just one hit in his previous 26 at- bats.
To take his place on the roster, the Phillies have recalled infielder Cesar Hernandez from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Playing mostly second base, Hernandez has hit .308 with six triples and 15 stolen bases in 48 games with the Iron Pigs.
