Oklahoma State RB Sims transfers to Lamar

Running back Herschel Sims has become the third Oklahoma State football player to transfer to Lamar University this offseason, Cardinals coach Ray Woodard announced Friday.

Sims was Oklahoma State's third-leading rusher last season with 242 yards, scoring two touchdowns. The 5-foot-8, 204-pounder from Abilene, Texas, has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

He joins wide receiver Kevin Johnson and defensive lineman Joe Okafor as OSU transfers to Lamar.

Sims posted 100-yard rushing games against Texas Tech (111) and Baylor (104) and Texas last season. He rushed for an 81-yard touchdown against Baylor, which was the longest play in the Big 12 Conference.

After his junior year at Abilene High School, Rivals.com ranked Sims as the second-best all-purpose running back in the nation, the No. 8 player in Texas and the No. 73 overall prospect in the country. He had an injury-plagued season as a senior.
