Beaumont, TX – Running back Herschel Sims has become the third Oklahoma State football player to transfer to Lamar University this offseason, Cardinals coach Ray Woodard announced Friday.
Sims was Oklahoma State's third-leading rusher last season with 242 yards, scoring two touchdowns. The 5-foot-8, 204-pounder from Abilene, Texas, has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
He joins wide receiver Kevin Johnson and defensive lineman Joe Okafor as OSU transfers to Lamar.
Sims posted 100-yard rushing games against Texas Tech (111) and Baylor (104) and Texas last season. He rushed for an 81-yard touchdown against Baylor, which was the longest play in the Big 12 Conference.
After his junior year at Abilene High School, Rivals.com ranked Sims as the second-best all-purpose running back in the nation, the No. 8 player in Texas and the No. 73 overall prospect in the country. He had an injury-plagued season as a senior.
