Nacogdoches, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - It's Lumberjacks versus Lumberjacks.

Stephen F. Austin announced Wednesday it has changed its season-opening football game on Sept. 5 to a home matchup against Northern Arizona.

The game at Homer Bryce Stadium takes the place of SFA's previously scheduled matchup against Division II foe Tarleton State.

"This will be a great challenge for us," SFA coach Clint Conque said. "Northern Arizona is a well-established program out of the Big Sky and always fields a quality team. This will be a big challenge for our team, especially coming in the season opener, but it is a challenge we are ready to embrace."

SFA and Northern Arizona have met twice previously. NAU won 10-3 in Flagstaff, Arizona, in 2001, and SFA pulled out a 24-17 overtime victory at home in 2004.

SFA, from the Southland Conference, is coming off an 8-5 season in which it qualified for the FCS playoffs. NAU appeared in the 2013 playoffs and was 7-5 last season.

The game came about after NAU recently lost a Sept. 5 matchup against San Diego, which pulled out for a game against San Diego State.
