Marrakech, Morocco (SportsNetwork.com) - All four of this week's top-four seeds, including No. 1 Garbine Muguruza, notched opening-round wins Tuesday at the Moroccan Grand Prix tennis event.

The Spanish Muguruza handled Russian Darya Kasatkina 6-4, 6-1.

Meanwhile, second-seeded Swiss Timea Bacsinszky topped Russian Evgeniya Rodina 6-3, 7-5, third-seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta subdued Serb Bojana Jovanovski 6-2, 6-3 and fourth-seeded Ukrainian Elina Svitolina whipped Croat Donna Vekic 6-2, 6-2 at this clay-court tournament.

In other action involving seeds, Hungarian Timea Babos upset No. 5 Mona Barthel of Germany 6-4, 6-0, No. 6 Roberta Vinci of Italy took care of Polish lucky-loser Urszula Radwanska 6-2, 6-3 and No. 8 Monica Puig of Puerto Rico doused Belgian qualifier Alison Van Uytvanck 6-0, 7-6 (7-3).

Several other women reached the second round, including Italian Karin Knapp and American Christina McHale, who beat fading Slovak Daniela Hantuchova 6-4, 6-2.

Also, qualifier and recent Bogota champion Teliana Pereira of Brazil vanquished Estonian Kaia Kanepi 6-3, 6-2.

In some second-round play on Wednesday, Muguruza will face France's Kristina Mladenovic; Bacsinszky will take on German Tatjana Maria; Pennetta will encounter German qualifier Laura Siegemund; and Svitolina will lock horns with McHale.
