DeWayne Jackson scored 21 points and Kevin Thompson had a double-double to help Morgan State beat Hampton 80-70 Monday night and remain undefeated in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play.

Thompson finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Bears (7-7, 3-0). Aric Brooks had 18 points and eight rebounds, while Ameer Ali added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Morgan State.

Jackson scored on a three-point play to give Morgan State a 60-49 lead with 8:05 left in the second half. The Pirates attempted a rally, cutting the margin to four points after Charles Funches made two free throws with 3:42 remaining.

But Hampton (12-4, 2-1) would get no closer, as Jackson answered with another three-point play and made free throws down the stretch to help Morgan State pull away.

Darrion Pellum led the Pirates with 23 points with eight turnovers. Brandon Tunnell scored 15 points and Funches added 14.
