Montbeliard, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Monaco fell two points back of Ligue 1 leaders PSG on Sunday after the club squandered a two-goal lead and was held to a 2-2 draw at Sochaux.
Yannick Ferreira Carrasco scored twice for Monaco in the opening 10 minutes and it looked like the visitors were well on their way to three points.
But Sochaux, which was playing under new coach Herve Renard for the first time, rallied in the second half with goals from Cedric Bakambu and Joseph Lopy to avoid a seventh defeat in 10 games.
Carrasco had Monaco in front five minutes into the match when he scored with a first-time shot from close range after being teed up by James Rodriguez.
And he took advantage of a mistake by the Sochaux defense to double his tally five minutes later when he cut out a poor backpass from Carlao and slotted his shot past goalkeeper Simon Pouplin.
The home side responded after halftime and pulled to within a goal in the 57th minute when a corner kick from Rafael Dias found Bakambu at the back post for an easy headed finish.
Monaco was once again victimized by a corner kick 20 minutes from time as Lopy got free from his marker and sent a looping header over goalkeeper Danijel Subasic to claim a point for his side.
Lyon salvaged a 1-1 draw at home against Bordeaux with a 90th-minute goal from Jimmy Briand despite playing the final 23 minutes with 10 men, while St Etienne moved into seventh place by securing a 3-2 home victory against Lorient.
