The Miami Marlins signed veteran catcher Miguel Olivo on Friday.

Olivo, who played for the Marlins in 2006-07, hit .222 with 12 homers and 29 RBI in 87 games for the Seattle Mariners last season. He played in 21 games for the Reds in spring training before being released on Wednesday.

In 1,083 career games with the White Sox, Mariners, Padres, Marlins, Royals and Rockies, Olivo has batted .241 with 141 home runs and 479 RBI.

Miami also optioned catcher Kyle Skipworth to Triple-A New Orleans.
