Lille, France – Lille midfielder Rio Mavuba is expected to miss the next three months with a meniscus injury.
Mavuba sustained the problem in his side's match against Rennes eight days ago, and coach Rudi Garcia confirmed on the club's website that he would undergo an operation to repair the problem.
The 28-year-old was named in France's national team for World Cup qualifiers against Finland and Belarus last month, but the injury will keep him out of the team's upcoming match with Spain.
