Leverkusen, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Bayer Leverkusen will be without midfielder Gonzalo Castro for the final month of the season after he sustained a torn meniscus in training on Wednesday.

It was confirmed by the club that Castro will undergo surgery to repair the problem, ruling him out of Leverkusen's final five matches of the season.

The 27-year-old has appeared in 20 Bundesliga games this term for the club, but manager Roger Schmidt will not have his services as the team battles to secure a top-three place, which would carry an automatic Champions League berth.

Leverkusen currently sits in third place on goal difference ahead of fourth- place Monchengladbach.
