Canonsburg, PA – Cliff Kresge managed a 1-under 70 Saturday that was good enough to give him a 1-shot lead after three rounds Mylan Classic.
Kresge, a three-time winner on the Web.com Tour, ended 54 holes at 12-under 201.
Brad Fritsch, who had a 1-shot lead entering the round, stumbled to a 1-over 72 to slip into a share of second place. He was joined at minus-11 by Nicholas Thompson (68) and Robert Streb (69).
Jason Allred (65), Kevin Kisner (66) and Matt Weibring (69) are tied for fifth at 10-under-par 203 at Southpointe Golf Club.
Kresge and Fritsch were in the final group together on Saturday and quickly changed places on the leaderboard.
Kresge birdied the second and made it two in a row with a birdie on No. 3. With that, he grabbed a 2-shot lead as Fritsch went other way.
Fritsch stumbled to bogeys on the second and third to tumble to minus-10. He fought back with birdies at the sixth and eighth to get back within one of the lead.
Kresge ran off 13 consecutive pars from the fourth to remain atop the leaderboard. His string of pars ended at the 17th, where he faltered to a bogey. Kresge parred the last to grab the third-round lead.
"It was a very patient and challenging day. It was a little bit of sloppy golf and a little bit tougher," Kresge said.
Fritsch carded nine straight pars from the ninth. He dipped into a share of second with a bogey at the last.
"It was crazy some of the places I was hitting it. My short game saved me today and I'm only one shot out," Fritsch said. "Luckily, nobody went nuts out there. I'm just worn out."
Thompson got on the board with a birdie at the second. He traded a bogey for a birdie from the fifth. After five pars in a row, Thompson moved to 11-under with back-to-back birdies at 12 and 13. He parred the last five holes to share second place.
Streb had two birdies in his round at the fourth and ninth. He parred the other 16 holes for a bogey-free round.
NOTES: With bad weather in the forecast for Sunday, tee times were moved up with the last group going off at 9:50 a.m. ET...Erik Flores withdrew during the third round due to an ankle injury...Adam Long had a hole-in-one on the fifth, the third ace of the week.
