Bought out by the Washington Capitals, Jeff Schultz has found a new home in Los Angeles.

The Kings signed the 27-year-old defenseman to an undisclosed contract on Friday.

Schultz had three assists in 26 games with the Capitals last season before the club who took him in the first round (27th overall) of the 2004 draft decided to part ways.

The Alberta native has totaled 11 goals, 64 assists and a plus-78 rating in 399 career games, including a career-best plus-50 in 2009-10.
