LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky linebacker Ridge Wilson has been dismissed from the football team after being arrested on felony drug trafficking charges in Louisville.
University spokesman Tony Neely confirmed the dismissal Monday.
According to a police citation, officers arrested Wilson early Sunday morning after finding him parked on the side of a downtown street in a known drug trafficking area. Police say Wilson mentioned several times that he played for Kentucky and gave consent to search the car. An officer found a bag of Xanax pills hidden in a pair of jeans.
Officers say the 21-year-old Wilson was carrying $1,947 in cash at the time of his arrest.
Wilson, a junior, lettered twice while playing in 24 games for the Wildcats.
