Kennesaw, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Kennesaw State men's basketball team will enter next season under its third coach in five years after the school announced Monday that it fired Jimmy Lallathin.
Lallathin served as interim head coach for the final 16 games of the 2013-14 season after Lewis Preston took a leave of absence for medical and personal reasons.
He was named head coach last March after the school and Preston agreed to part ways permanently and led the Owls to a 10-22 record in his only full season at the helm.
"I want to personally thank Jimmy Lallathin for his hard work as head coach," Kennesaw State athletic director Vaughn Williams said in a statement. "Jimmy took over the program in mid-season and guided it through a difficult period of transition.
"Also, I would like to thank his wife and family for the support that they've shown the university."
Associate head coach David Rivers was named interim head coach until the position is filled.
Preston was hired to replace Tony Ingle in April 2011.
