DeAndre Kane scored 20 points and Marshall routed Memphis 85-70 on Saturday night.

Damier Pitts and Tirrell Baines each finished with 17 points for the Thundering Herd (14-7, 2-4 Conference USA), who ended a two-game losing streak. Shaquille Johnson pitched in with 10 points.

Marshall used a strong first half, pulling head by 17 points with 2:33 remaining after Baines scored five straight points. The Thundering Herd controlled much of the second half, until Memphis went on a run to cut their lead to five points with 7:19 to play.

But Marshall answered with its own run, going on a 12-2 spurt that was capped by Nigel Spikes' dunk and free throw. The Thundering Herd, who shot 24 of 37 from the free-throw line, led by as many as 20 points.

Will Barton finished with 20 points on 8 of 17 shooting for the Tigers (16-5, 5-2).
