Florham Park, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - With wide receivers Santonio Holmes and Stephen Hill sidelined because of injuries, the New York Jets brought in free agent wideout David Nelson on Wednesday.

Nelson spent three seasons with Buffalo from 2010-12 and racked up 94 catches for 1,042 yards and eight touchdowns in 32 games, including 17 starts.

The 26-year-old Florida product posted his best season in 2011, hauling in 61 passes for 658 and five touchdowns while starting 13 games.

Holmes, who has 10 catches for 243 yards and one touchdown this season, is expected to be out a few weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered in Sunday's loss to the Tennessee Titans.

The Jets are also expected to be without Hill, who suffered a concussion on Sunday, when they face the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night.

The Jets released wide receiver Ben Obomanu to make room for Nelson on the roster, while adding linebacker Troy Davis to the practice squad and releasing Kareem Huggins from the practice squad.
