Storrs, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis poured in 23 points as her top-seeded Connecticut Huskies easily downed the eighth-seeded Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 91-55, in the second round of the NCAA Women's Tournament at Gampel Pavilion.
Moriah Jefferson chipped in with 19 points and five assists for UConn (34-1), while Morgan Tuck added 16 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Gabby Williams tallied a double-double off the bench with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Huskies, who haven't lost a game since Nov. 17 against Stanford, will face off against fifth-seeded Texas in the Sweet 16 round of the tournament on Saturday.
Tyler Scaife scored 16 points to pace Rutgers (23-10), while Kahleah Copper and Betnijah Laney each contributed 11 points in the losing effort.
Connecticut dominated defensively, holding the Scarlet Knights to a mere 34.2 percent shooting in the game, which included a 1-of-9 mark from 3-point range. The Huskies outscored Rutgers from distance, 33-3, and held a 53-30 advantage in rebounding in the victory.
UConn has reached the regional semifinals of the NCAA Tournament in 22 consecutive seasons.
