The 19-year-old was not penalized for kicking at St. Louis Blues forward Scott Nichol late in the second period of Thursday's 2-0 win.

Skinner will forfeit $9,729.72 in salary, which goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund, and he is not eligible to return until March 21 when Carolina takes on division rival Florida.

In other disciplinary news, the NHL handed down a $2,500 fine to Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan for boarding Flames defenseman Mark Giordano on Thursday in Calgary.
