Galaxy's Donovan earns MLS Player of the Week honor
New York, NY – Los Angeles Galaxy forward/midfielder Landon Donovan was named the Player of the Week on Monday for Week 24 of the 2013 Major League Soccer season.
After a dominant Golden Ball performance last month at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the American international carried his excellent form over to league play as he scored his fourth career hat trick on Sunday, helping the Galaxy to a 3-3 draw with Western Conference rivals FC Dallas.
After Los Angeles fell behind early, Donovan's first goal of the night came on the stroke of halftime. He then made it a 2-2 game with his second tally in the 73rd minute and gave the Galaxy the lead by completing his hat trick eight minutes from time.
The MLS Player of the Week award is selected each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television, and radio media.
