LEWISTON, N.Y. – Novar Gadson had his second double-double of the season as Rider defeated Niagara 82-65 on Friday night for the Broncs' fifth straight win.
Gadson had 17 points and 10 rebounds while Mike Ringgold, Justin Robinson and Jonathon Thompson scored 16 points apiece. Robinson also had six assists and Thompson had five.
Rider (11-5, 3-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) is off to its best start since beginning the 1982-83 season 14-4.
The Broncs never trailed, breaking open the game at 21-19 with a 14-2 run and leading 47-27 at the break.
Rider led by as many as 27 in the second half.
Marvin Gordon scored 18 points on 6-of-19 shooting to lead the Purple Eagles (3-13, 0-4), who lost their sixth straight.
The Broncs outshot Niagara from the field 55.2 percent (32 of 58) to 29.9 percent (20 of 67). The Purple Eagles hit 10 of 29 3-pointers, while Rider was 9 of 18.
