Former Inter Milan striker Diego Forlan has opted to join Brazilian side Internacional, it was confirmed on Friday.

Internacional announced the signing on its official website, with the 33-year- old joining on a three-year contract.

Inter agreed to terminate Forlan's deal after just one season at the San Siro in which he totaled two goals in 22 appearances.

The Uruguay international arrived at Inter last summer as a replacement for Samuel Eto'o, but failed to settle after a productive spell at Atletico Madrid.
