Neither player will be on the field at the same time, but they have a special reason to keep tabs on the other.

On Saturday, the first two winners of the Jerry Rice Award, Towson running back Terrance West and Villanova quarterback John Robertson, will help lead their teams into a key CAA Football matchup at Towson.

Fifteenth-ranked Villanova (3-2, 2-0) and third-ranked Towson (6-0, 2-0) are tied for first place in the conference with No. 14 Maine (5-1, 2-0).

West and Robertson have continued to excel since they won the FCS national freshman of the year award.

West, a junior, won the inaugural Rice Award in 2011. This season, he leads the FCS in scoring (15 touchdowns for 90 points) and is fourth nationally in rushing yards per game (147.7).

Robertson, the 2012 Rice Award winner, ranks third in the CAA and is tied for 29th in the FCS in total offense (265 yards per game). The sophomore has thrown for five touchdowns and rushed for another five.

The third Rice Award will be presented at The Sports Network FCS Awards Banquet and Presentation on Dec. 16 in Philadelphia.
